NO DOUBT ABOUT IT….SHOULD HAVE HAD ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE…….NOW WE HAVE TO HAVE ONE !!!

aganist europe just this europe sooner we leave the better and I just found out
today the the european court are trying to have us pay benefits to all eu
immigrants I could just die wherever you are what ever your doing im with you
all the way Some tories do want to talk about it.
If I dont get a reply I understand as your busy you have my support.
Lets deluge Cameron with requests for our money back!!!
What a brilliant idea! bombard him on face book lol
How long will our goverment ignore the wishes of the British people. We demand an E.U referendum now.
Europe was a huge mistake and the quicker we are out the better. We have been made the laughing stock of the world for finance, immigration and of course BENEFITS!!!
We should go back to being our own country
Couldnt agree more Mr Macgregor well said.
Ironic that on the day Cameron talks about democracy coming to Libya upon Gadaffi’s death, he forbids Tory MPs to vote for a referendum on the EU. Clearly, it’s ok for Britons to be ruled by unelected European despots.
Well Rt Hon David Cameron Prime Minister has definitely upset a lot of people within his own party with his stance on Europe. I for one have been a lifetime supporter of the Conservative party and I truly believe in British values and morals and I am against socialism.
The Prime Ministers order to his chief whips to force his own MP`s to vote in favour of Europe is also a disgrace and as you have already said a contradiction in his views towards other countries having the right to vote.
He has lost my vote for his leadership now and he will have a lot of making up to do if he wants to continue as Prime Minister and leader of the Conservatives
Hi Steve. I certainly wasn’t implying that the Glasgow by-election was rigged. Merely that the new Labour canddate had the support of a fine tuned campaign that was well oiled by huge financial support. You made a similar point yourself. And it is a major spanner in the works for genuine democracy. You also point out that there are still a great number of people who vote by habit and family/community tradition. Such entrenched social behavior is hard to change. But we must try; And try extremely hard to convince folk that abandoning the party they and their family have always voted for will not plunge this country into ruinous decline. Every serious Independent candidate that ever put themselves up for election did so because they could not ally themselves to party manifestos that were not totally fair and honest; To policies that were driven by industry and commerce or wealthy individuals. Nor to lay themselves open to the commands of Party whips. Being a muted member of a self-serving tool of the rich or powerful is hardly the ambition of a genuine politician. So, come the next election, my first duty will be to sound out the local independent candidate. If I’m not impressed, I’ll vote Ukip. To vote for a big three Party Puppet will be an act of masochism.
Well over a generation ago, we voted to join the protectionist trading block known as the Common Market. No vote has been taken regarding joining the EU, a political union. Our membership of the EU is therefore unconstitutional.
Well said George. It’s just one more, but absolutely massive, illustration of what our democratic system has become. An elected dictatorship. I hope that your next visit to a general election voting booth will resul in a cross against any sensible candidate that is not representing one of the big three parties. A good Independent or UKIP will get my next vote. I’ve spent a lifetime watching successive governments making a right ball of cotton of the job. It’s time we abandoned the major parties and gave genuine politicians a chance. I am firmly of the opinion that the change and the fairness that we all deserve will only happen if we outlaw the blue, red, and yellow rosettes. Britains Party system has become an expensive distortion of true democracy. The pen is mightier than the sword. Use it wisely and I reckon that we may get the democracy we yearn for.
The people of the UK need to decide what kind of country we want and what kind of relationship we want with the EU. Cameron and Hague telling us that its the wrong time and wrong question. There’s never a wrong time to decide the future of our country. We need to lance the EU boil once and for all. Might put Guanty out of a job though LOL
they know that if there’s a referendum that the people will win….the party leaders have their own leaders and paymasters….the nazi NWO
Iam not a member of the conservatives but massive respect to the conservative back benches for rebeling agains thier “leader” and party whip. What they did gives you hope democracy is still alive please keep up the pressure.
We should be in the EU. I don’t understand how you can all be so ignorant to the benefits of being in the EU..
Why should we stay in the EU? It costs us £50 million a day to stay. It’s a gravy train for all the mep’s, our own mps and euro civil servants. Cameron says we need to trade with europe. Why would anyone want to trade with most european countries who are bankrupt? Certainly a successful business would not want to trade with people who have no money! So lets keep free trade with europe. Let’s pull out now rather than continue paying billions to prop this politic ideology up ( which will eventually fail anyway) . Become indepenant like Norway and switzerland, so we can control our own borders, limits immigrant entry and have our own legislation. Our future is not with europe but with greater trade links with the BRIC nations. WHEN WILL OUR GOVERNMENT REALISE THAT THIS CRAVY POLITICAL IDEA HAS FAILED AND PULL US OUT OF THE E.E.C. NOW IS THE TIME WE NEED A STRONG PRIME MINISTER TO LISTEN TO THE BRITISH PUBLIC.
There is no such thing like EEC anymore, Adrian. It’s called EU now, but I don’t intend to give you a history lesson here. This simple mistake just shows how incompetent you are in this area…
I’d like to hear some of these “benefits” but i dont think they exist
British think that the UK pays all that money to the EU and get no benefits at all. So wrong. Think of all the rights British citizens and companies get from being part of the EU, free movement of persons, goods, services and capital. Moreover, British can rely on EU law to have their fundamental rights protected, where such protection cannot be provided by the UK. Don’t think of all the foreigners from other Member States that come into the UK, think of all the British that go to work and live in other EU countries.British should be careful and not turn whole Europe against them, because this is a force one should never be kidding with.
The longer the eurozone crisis goes on the more we need a referendum on the future of our country.
the EU and it’s phoney currency is finished but we unite against the clueless old three parties and back UKIP as an alternative government
The British electorate voted for a common market. We did not vote for a United States of Europe, which over 3 decades has slowly and quietly removed our democratic rights, laws, traditions, and our money! Whilst at the same time imposing thousands of rules, regulations and laws that we neither needed or wanted. This corrupt money grabbing monster has the gaul to impose rules on british business that it fails to adhere to itself. For 17 years it fails to have its accounts signed off!!!! £50,000,000 a day to remain a member?? some one in No 10 is smoking something that evades the rest of us! GET US OUT! WE WERE ALONE IN 1940 and against all the odds we stuck by our instinct and came out battered and bruised BUT FREE!
Shona: You need to wake up and smell the coffee!!! – ignorance is indeed bliss – enjoy!, but the majority of the educated British electorate and those at the forefront of economics, business and finance are anything but!
If there is anyone out there who supports our being a member of the EU will you please tell me, what benefits we get for our £1.5Billion per month !! that we the British taxpayer pay to Brussels .
We also need to look at the Billions we are send abroad to help other countries when our own people are dying, on the poverty line and war heros are treated like second reate citizons.
Also we seriously need to have a look at the Human Rights Act, as it only seems to benefit the criminals and wrong doers.
We have been fed disinformation from the moment we were given our first (and only ) referendum on Europe.Heath deliberately lied to us leading us to beliedve we were joining a super trade federation. For this we abandoned our main trading ties with our friends in the Commonwealthwith unfair tariffs and taxes. We have NEVER been told exactly what benefits we extract from belonging to this wasteful set up except that to complain or criticise we are “Little Englanders” and metaphorically petted on the head and told to leave it to the grown ups.well I would still appreciate being told why those on the gravy train are filling their boots whilst we poor tax payers are being milked dry.As a lifelong conservative voter the party can no longer rely on my vote until we have a leader who listens.
For all the problems we have in this country, D Cameron could solve it all, by using his commen sense. but it seems we are ruled by a load of Idiot’s. We need to get out of the EU NOW.
but poor Mr Cameron will lose his world stage. we would soon be a wealthy country again.
If we stopped all payments to the EU. stopped all payments to world aid, and close our borders we are FULL to breaking point enough is enough. they have used all our resources, WATER, NHS, SCHOOLS, JOBS AND MOST OF ALL THEY TAKE OUR MONEY IN BENIFITS THEY SHOULD NOT BE ENTITLED TO. If you have never worked in this country ,you should not be able to stay here.
look after your own country first. then we can help others.
Remember Mr Cameron we the British people pay your wages.
and all those in government should sit an Interview like the rest of us , for any job you wish to take on. because most of you are in important jobs you do not know how to do.
Sheila I agree with everything you say, but as your well aware the only people with common sense are the British public. Unforunately when it comes to making decisions for the country we have always had people who havent got the Balls!!! to listen to us and/or whats best for the UK.
We need to pull out of the EU, start putting the money bacinto this country e.g. NHS, Schools, War heros, elderly etc.
Thank you David to the reply to my message.
and pleased you agree with what I have said.
Because all that has been going on in this country for so long, has really rattled me.
Lets hope we get our day. but it will only be brought about by people POWER.
This is my first visit to this site which has been brought about my fears for our future following the Eurozone meeting today. All your comments are interesting but blogging will not achieve a great deal. Surely the only way to make this Government take notice is for thousands, if not millions, of people to demonstrate on the streets of our major cities. Governments historically have been rocked by strong demonstrations, they are never afraid of ‘words’ alone.
M Brown yes I agree with what you say and thank you for this message.
It will need people Power to make this stupid government to listen to the british people, but listen they will come next year, and the sooner the better before this country runs out of money.
They sure do love power don’t they. not bothered about any human being. as long as they live the rich life.
It will be UKIP for me next time, they seem to know what the people of this once great country need’s and wants.
As i have said before, Europe is and as always been a terrible mistake and we should never have got involved. So i agree with previous comments and we should have a mass demonstration in London to force the Government and David Cameron to rethink this vote and let us the general public have our right to a vote.
Pull out of this disaster called Europe
A referendum on the EU is well over-due but it has to happen ASAP especially since the death of democracy in Greece and Italy after the EU mep’s and leaders threw out the democratically elected leaders and put there own “yes men” technocrat’s in charge. I see this move as a step towards the power hungry EU leaders getting what they really want, one giant super socialist state of which a few un-elected people make the decisions that will control all of our lives.
The question should not necessarily be about money or immigration (although these are important issues) but about protecting our democracy. My Grandparents and their generation (the greatest generation this country has ever had!) did not fight off the Nazi’s to see bureaucrats hand over our sovereignty, they fought for freedom and democracy (for all of europe) and this must never be forgotten.
END THE EU AND RESTORE DEMOCRACY!!!
As far a foreign aid goes we should help, most of the aid this country pays goes to Afganistan helping to build infra-structures to stop Afganistan becoming a terroist state again nobody wants another 9/11
Finally if anyone is interested a Gentleman by the name of Bill Still (I know its almost a comedy name) has produced a fascinating documentary called the Secrets of OZ it basically describes how the global econmic crash was caused an more interestingly how to escape it. Its 2hrs long but well worth a watch.
You can watch it by clicking on the following link or search on you tube:

Good Luck Gaunty (good luck to all of us!)
After the obstruction by the UK at the recent Euro-EU-meeting, I googled “UK out of EU” and reached this site.
My impression is that the UK is the least committed european state, that it has obtained the most exceptions, have blocked the most decisions and that it does not want to be part of a european cooperation. The UK turns the EU into a “polish parlament” and both parties are probably better off if you leave. For sure it will be easier to make decisions in Europe and apparently you are convinced that it is better for the UK (so I don’t need to argue for that).
There is currently an internet vote at http://www.lefigaro.fr if the UK still has a place in the EU, 82% (out of 31000) has voted no. I do not think that you would have obtained that score in a british referandum, but I wish you good luck.
Greetings from Europe, and best wishes (with everything except your financial industry. It is completely absurd that Cameron’s main argument for his “no” was to protect “the City” at a time of crisis when predator financial institutions ruin entire countries.)
One last thought: Imagine that you obtain your referandum and the people say yes to the EU, be careful what you wish for !
Get out now, I for one am pig sick of being ruled by unelected frogs and krauts who are only interested in their own powers and being re-elected, not to mention all the money they have been paid to implement crackpot ideas. We are an island nation, cut immigration and kick out all the illegals now instead of giving them houses and benefits.
I canno’t agree more.
time to turn the tables on this EU lot
elements says, I am surprised by the attitude in France of all places, and that the French people are apparantly, happy to hand over their soveriegnty to the EU. France has a long history of fighting for their hard won democracy and now will allow their future to be determined by others and control of their economy to be dictated by Germany. Your ancestors must be turning in their graves. Britain and France are capable of running their own affairs without intervention by others and should be coming together to ‘get out’ of the EU before it finally collapses, following the inevitable collapse of the Euro.
UK IN THE EU! Stop with those ridiculous ideas, you uneducated people! You have no idea of what you’re talking about and you need to shut up and stop embarrassing yourselves! Not being part of the EU will be extremely damaging for the UK, moreover the whole world will think of the UK as a selfish and snobbish country and everyone will hate us. For God’s sake!
I and thousands more do not think it is Ridculous to get out of the unelected EU who swallow up our money as though it grows on trees. How can you call the UK selfish and snobbish, after all the money this country has given away, to aid to other countries and benifits to them that come here , and think it is their right to take our money for nothing in return.
seems your the uneducated person here. I am not embarrssed, for speaking up for this country.
Your the one that needs to shut up. we managed for hundred of years without the EU, and will do so again. The only way the world see’s us is a soft touch.
Have you any idea of what you say for” GODS SAKE” He would agree that we get out of this greedy farce, away from the corrupt, that look after their own and begger the poor people of this world, they are only in it for what they can get. and of course to be on the world stage.
So you think the only thing that constitutes the relationship between EU and the UK is the UK paying money and that is all? Not to mention that it is Germany that pays most, but I don’t see them complaining? I am not going to give you an EU Law lecture, people are actually getting paid to do that. I am not going to argue with people who think they are God chosen. The world has changed, if you have not realised, so have economies, principles, relations, laws, practices, views, etc. I can’t really convince you not to be deluded and ignorant though, can I? UK is not going anywhere, just sit and observe.
NY No it is not all about money, and give it time and the German people will
complain One of the reasons for leaving the EU is because we would be ruled by an unelected unaccountable Brussels Elite.
And it is largely Europe who is responsible for the despreate mess into which Europe has been plunged..
Oh I do realise the world is changing and has been for some time, and all for the better given time.
So now we are not only uneducated and embarrassing , selfish, snobbish, but also deluded and ignorant.
Before being so Rude to other people on this site, take a look in the mirrow.
We shall see what happens to the UK.
True to form the EU lecture everyone else about the importance of sacrifice while inhabitying a world of publicty funded privilage.
we dont see them giving up anything, they still have their jet-loving, limousine, food that most people can only dream of.
And for the past 17 years Auditors have refused to give the EU accounts a clean bill of health b ecause of serial abuses, the annual amount of fraud is estimated at over £4 billion.
with your hand on heart still think that we should hand over our country to such corrupt Eurocrats.
@NY … completely the opposite actually … watching from New Zealand and talking about the situation with others the view in unanimous, “get out while you have the opportunity, stand on your own two feet and fix your sad, sad country” . From an outsider looking in I feel sorry for Britain and the British people and having lived their for 5 years I have zero desire to ever go back.
Good luck and get out !
@NY
UK out of the EU….Europe is a stupid idea dreamt up by socialists who are dreaming of a one world order…!!! GET A GRIP
UK must pull out of Europe now before we end up being dragged down by the mess the EU is in..
totally agreeing! But my reasons may differ. See http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/aug/13/eu-kick-britain-out we should do better without the UK.
best regards from germany
Hello Germany
We are in the same postion as France,
Sorry you did not win the war, does it still hurt.
Let me tell you Britain does not need any one that is not honest and up front with us.
Merry Christmas
Na, I’m young that doesn’t bother me anymore
what do you mean you are in the same position as France? Don’t understand that..
I’m just in favour of a “US of Europe” in a (probably very) far away future or at least a smaller union capable of acting. And as a matter of facts this seems to be difficult with membercountries who still have very strong national interests and more importantly which have a population absolutely not willing to be part of european integration (as this homepage shows). Of Courese this process also is difficult because of differences in economics and in wealth in the countries of Europe.
In Fact this makes it a real pity that a strong and stable economy like GB does not want to be a part of the european idea anymore.
Oh and Mery Christmas as well, thank you
@Haio & @NY
I am so happy that the EU top brass are angry with Britain and i really hope they decide to throw Britain out of any future discussions because if our leader David Cameron and the Socialist elite in this country are to cowardly to pull out or give us a referendum on EU then maybe the EU will throw us out anyway and do us a favour.
The EU,even though they clearly despise the UK and it’s people, won’t kick us out – they need our money too much!
Changes are coming to the EU and US and to the whole World. Establishment do not want to bow before the spirit of times as it never does. Status Quo will be defended and will fail. Changes cannot be stopped, people feels it, and they are slowly turning to the right Leaders. Good luck to UKIP and to the Ron Paul. We are with you over the internet, we will be with you at the polls and in whatever end we will follow your ideas which slowly are becoming our own as they are wining over this sickened and wicked system.
Do we live in a democracy? I don’t think so. The antequated political system that we are all told is the best in the world is an elected dictatorship. We are conned into voting by being made to believe that we are exercising our democratic right and taking part in a fair election; That our choice of candidate will be true to the same ideals and aspirations as ourselves. What is astonishing about that statement is that we seem to fall for it every time. When will the British public get the point? When will they realise that if we keep voting for the same parties, we’ll keep getting the same old style of government. The same old policies, the same old scandals, the same old incompetence that always means that parliamentarians suffer no hardships at all, while the rest of us have to suffer whatever they decide to get them out of the brown stuff. The British people have endured forty-odd years of politicians building a European parliament that is doing no good for anyone except the politicians. And we the voters have only been asked for our input when it’s time to vote for another euro MP. Considering the small benefits that these EMP’s win for their constituencies, I reckon that the price that Britain pays is tantamount to extortion. Those who believe that the EU is essential to Britain and Europe are deluded. And those who engineered it’s existance are self-serving hustlers who have merely feathered their own nests at our expense. It is my belief that Westminster know what the general public think about the EU. This has ensured a strategy to avoid a referendum at all costs. We are being blatantly cheated out of our democratic right. Without having to do what the Egyptian people have done, and the Lybians, we can change the way we are governed by the courageous use of our vote. I use the word courageous because many people clearly have a great difficulty when it comes to putting their cross against the name of a candidate who isn’t wearing a blue, red, or yellow rosette. Vote UKIP, or Independent; Anyone who isn’t a Tory, Labour, or Libdem puppet. Only then will we get the kind of change that everyone prayed for after the expenses scandal and the shambolic lurching from one crisis to another under Blair and Brown. Only then will we get MP’s doing what they should be doing; Which is getting us out of europe and governing with fairness, morality, integrity and common sense. May I end with this obsevation. How often do we see Government Ministers, either on the panel of Question Time, or being interviewed by Andrew Marr, arguing a contrary stance on policy when the whole audience, or the interviewer, have just pointed out what the general consensus is? I’ve lost count of the number of times when public opinion is brushed aside as if some stupid suggestion has just been made. Go on, next time put your cross against someone elses name. I dare you!
Hi Phantom
I agree with every thing you say.
and YES I dare to vote UKIP and will do so at the first opportunity, bring it on.
they can’t do any worse than what we have had to put up with over the years.
What a self serving lot they are.
we must and will leave the EU also walk away from the ludicrous special relationship with the other user called the USA,get rid of obama yanks ron paul would be brilliant as president the next reagan, cameron clegg and miliband are failures UKIP for government with a majority we must remove the coalition now, before these donkeys ruin us and our nation
@ Phantom raspberry blower of old London Town, We are not conned in to voting anyone so sorry i do not buy the excuse of us all being lied to.
The basic thing is, most people do not understand politics or what there party stands for. people in Scotland still moan about Margaret Thatcher because as these idiots put it, she closed down the pits and the ship yards and of course caused the poll tax. In reality, she didn’t close anything, she simply did not agree to public fund the pits or the ship yards as they were not in a position to pay back the Government and got themselves in to mass debt. She actually made a very good and bold decision that helped Britain, but of course the Socialists who are mostly very uneducated didn’t see it that way.
@ Everyone, For some reason David Cameron and the Government think it is simply best for us to remain part of Europe, though saying this, not everyone in the Conservative party including back benches agree. Certainly voting UKIP is the now the most logical step forward, but will people actually vote UKIP? Sadly NO!!
To Steve MacGregor: I didn’t intend to say that we were conned into voting. Just that we were conned into believing that the system was truly democratic. In my lifetime every government has eventually made a right ball of cotton of it. Labour tries to borrow it’s way out of trouble; And the Tories find a way to make the working class pay more tax, whilst whittling down the benefits to the unemployed, and the unemployable. It’s almost predictable. So if change is to happen, then it will only do so if the voters change how and who they vote for. The system is rigged against anyone who does not represent the three main parties. At the height of the expenses scandal the speaker of the house had to resign. The bi-election in his Glasgow consituency was a perfect opportunity for voters to show their anger towards Labour Party MP’s who had been caught with their fingers in the till. What happened? A Labour candidate was elected. That event illustrates exactly what we’re up against. The British public grumble, shake their fists, demonstrate with loud voices and large placards; But come the election, we bottle it, and put the same incompetent lot back into parliament. The Media, and the Party spin doctors create a fear within us that makes us stick with the devil we know, rather than the one we dont. Now that we are an industrial lightweight in the world we have begun to show our true political psyche. Socialism is a much weakened force. We are a nation of middle-of-the-road tories. We are never going to elect a radical government. Voting UKIP or Independent will not change where Britain stands in world politics. It will only change how our government responds to the wiil of the voters. So, if we bite the bullet and avoid voting for a big three candidate, maybe we’ll see more honesty, integrity, and morality among those who are guardians of the nations wealth and welfare. It’s up to us.
Hi Steven
I think the people of Britian are waking up to this government failings, and will only be to glad to vote UKIP
the sooner the better.
what we have now CON, LAB,LIB, are a waste of time, time we are running out of, I only wish we could have a
Vote now to get rid of these idiots, NOW before it is too late.
If they don’t listen to the people they will have more unrest in this country. and they will wonder WHY?
@ Phantom & Sheila, People in Glasgow voted for a Labour party candidate not because it was rigged but because they have voted Labour all there lives as did there parents before them. Scotland is a Socialist country and that’s what happens in Scotland. So no conspiracies just uneducated Scottish people that do not act on educated facts but on what has happened before.
The Tories (Conservative party) as they are now called are not a bad party and like i said before, many in the Conservatives want out of Europe as well. Can UKIP become a serious political party? No, why? they are lazy……UKIP need more finance to market there brand as Con, Lab, Lib (formerly known as the Whigs) have major financial backers.
UKIP need to work much harder……
Very many of us,myself included have never had the chance to vote in a referendum on the UK’s continued membership of the EU.It’s high time we did, very simply the ‘Common Market’ we joined back in 1973 has changed, mostly for the worst, most of us would agree, and have no problem whatever with a trading agreement, indeed Britain has always been a trading nation. What we don’t want or need is a bunch of unelected foreigners dictating and interfering with every aspect of our daily lives, the EU is corrupt to the core, much of it with UK taxpayers money, that’s why it’s accounts haven’t been signed-off for donkeys years, even though we aren’t in the Euro, thank god,we are still being shafted to prop up this busted flush of a currency, whose demise is not now a question of if but when.Basket case economies like Greece should clearly never have been allowed to join, but were fiddled through as part of the ‘project’.Again even though we aren’t signed up to the ‘open borders’ agreement,we still have very little control over our borders and anyone from the EU can just walk into Britain even though they have a criminal record a mile long, and safe in the knowledge that the chances of removal are slim and none thanks to the ludicrous HRA which the previous Labour Government inflicted upon us,with absolutely no mandate or vote whatsoever.
We need to and must remove ourselves from this nightmare before it really is too late!
