In an extensive, and exclusive, YouGov poll commissioned by the Vote UK out of EU campaign the Great British Public (GBP) have provided the most comprehensive ‘SnapShot’ of the mood of the nation towards immigration, the UK’s relationship with the EU, the quality of the political leaders, and an Independent Scotland.

The poll illustrates clearly that the Political Elite are out of touch with mainstream Britain, that the GBP are sick to death of uncontrolled and uncontrollable immigration from Europe, the EU and the excesses of the Human Rights Act.

This massive poll is important as it illustrates that so many of the problems and concerns facing ordinary Brits emanate from our relationship with the EU and it is clear that the time for tinkering at the edges or renegotiation and hollow gestures is over. What we need is action, a Referendum on the EU and to get out of this United States of Europe that we were never asked if we wanted to be a part of in the first place. It is time our political leaders listened to the GBP and acted on what they are saying. They should put aside the fact that over one fifth of the GBP don’t trust ANY of the party leaders to safeguard Britain’s interest in Europe, and take this opportunity to act in a positive manner to what they are being told from the people that they represent.

Immigration

It appears that ‘ordinary’ British citizens can clearly see what our great politic elite are blind to: the link between the massive influx of immigrants from other EU Countries and the effect it has had on unemployment in the UK. With 66 percent believing it has caused unemployment to rise and 63 percent wanting a sharp reduction in immigration as it would benefit Britain’s economy and create more jobs for British Workers, the question has to be will our political leaders agree and DO SOMETHING?

Of course we shouldn’t hold our breath as no doubt not many of these EU immigrants are looking to become MP’s but instead are looking to work as plumbers, mechanics, builders and Chippies so once again our MP’s won’t have a clue what it feels like to have their jobs threatened, another example of the disconnect between the Westminster Elite and the GBP who vote them into power.

Europe

The fact that almost two out of three people want a referendum on the EU means that we should stop asking if we want one and just get on with a straight in/out referendum without delay.This is why in June the Vote UK Out of the EU Campaign will at least give the voters of Witney, Doncaster and Sheffield Hallam the chance to have their say in a Referendum on a straight in/out question in the Party Leaders own constituencies. The 10 point lead in people who would vote to leave the EU will be ignored by Politicians at their peril especially in the light of the fact that 64% don’t want any more money spent on EU bailouts.
